DAY TRIP TO MUSALA PEAK

Hiking Musala peak is perfect for weekend adventure. It is situated in the eastern part of the Rila mountains and it is the highest peak on the Balkans - 2925 meters.

The view is amazing from any point of the trip. Along the way you see magnificent peaks, deep valleys, and pristine glacial lakes. The scenery from the peak is absolutely stunning. You can see all highest peaks of large massif of Rila and highest peaks of Pirin massif and Rhodope mountains.

Interesting to know that the first written document about hiking Musala dates back in 4th century BC when Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great climb it.

How to get there:
There is numerous marking trails, but the ideal base for hiking starts from the town of Borovets.It’s famous mountain resort about 70 km from Sofia. There is a cable car from the centre of Borovets up to peak Jastrebec on 2369 m. From there, the hike takes about 4 hours.
